Brunch Boxing Fight Preview: Junto Nakatani vs Vincent Astrolabio

Where to Watch:
📺 ESPN Plus, Amazon Prime Video (Japan), BrunchBoxing.com (Live Round by Round Coverage)

Junto Nakatani (27-0, 20KOs) vs Vincent Astrolabio (19-4, 14KOs):

What’s at stake: Nakatani’s WBC Bantamweight Title

Analysis: Nakatani (#10 Brunch Boxing Pound For Pound) returns to the ring after his sixth round stoppage victory over Alexandro Santiago in February. Nakatani is simply bigger, faster, stronger and better than Astrolabio. He’s a heavy favorite for a reason. This fight is a stay busy fight, while he attempts to unify with the rest of the bantamweight division.

Gambling Odds

Nakatani: -2500 ML, -2000 ML 3Way, +340 Decision, -340 KO/TKO
Astrolabio: +1425 ML, +1200 ML 3Way, *3200 Decision, +2300 KO/TKO
Total Rounds: O/U 7.5 Rounds: -128 Over, +102 Under
Fight To Go The Distance: +280 Yes, -400 No
Total Knockdowns: O/U 1.5 Knockdowns: -220 Over, +145 Under

Prediction: Nakatani KO/TKO

Kosei Tanaka (20-1, 11KOs) vs Jonathan Rodriguez (25-2-1, 17KOs):

What’s at stake: Tanaka’s WBO Super Flyweight Title

Analysis: This fight was canceled after Rodriguez missed weight by a whopping 6.25 pounds. Wholly unprofessional. You have to feel for Tanaka.

Riku Kano (22-4-2, 11KOs) vs Anthony Olascuaga (6-1, 4KOs)

What’s at stake: Vacant WBO Flyweight Title

Analysis: Olascuaga makes this second attempt at a world title, this time in the flyweight division. He was stopped by Kenshiro Teraji for the unified junior flyweight title last April in his first world title attempt. Kano is in a world title fight for the second time in his career. His first title fight was eight years ago, also unsuccessful. Neither guy has shown themselves to be a world level fighter, but the flyweight division is so thin that one of these fighters will be a world champion at the end of the night. Olascuaga is the healthy favorite because of his natural talent and punching power.

Gambling Odds

Kano: +245 ML, +260 ML 3Way, +470 Decision, +700 KO/TKO
Olascuaga: -320 ML, -300 ML 3Way, +430 Decision, -145 KO/TKO
Total Rounds: N/A
Fight To Go The Distance: +158 Yes, -200 No
Total Knockdowns: N/A

Prediction: Kano Decision

Tenshin Nasukawa (3-0, 1KOs) vs Jonathan Rodriguez (17-2-1, 7KOs)

What’s at stake: No title at stake

Analysis: Boxing fans will forever remember Tenshin Nasukawa for getting absolutely destroyed by Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition, but Nasukawa was an all time great kickboxer that is trying to make it in the boxing world. He’s fighting in his first ten rounder in only his fourth professional fight, so he is being fast tracked. He is a decent boxer, but lacks power. Rodriguez is there to give Nasukawa good work. Should be an easy victory for Nasukawa.

Gambling Odds: N/A

Prediction: Nasukawa Decision

Issei Aramoto (Pro Debut) vs Mongontsooj Nandinerdene (2-1, 2KOs)

What’s at stake: No title at stake

Analysis: Aramoto makes his professional debut after a standout amateur career. He won 12 titles and finished his amateur career with a record of 85-7. He’s expected to be fast tracked in a very poor middleweight division.

Gambling Odds: N/A

Prediction: Aramoto KO
