Golden Boy Announces Five-Fight “Latino Night” Event

Golden Boy Promotions has officially unveiled an exciting five-fight card titled “Latino Night,” set to take place on November 16 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This event will be a part of the highly anticipated Riyadh Season and will be headlined by a massive cruiserweight unification bout. The main event will see WBA Cruiserweight World Champion Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (46-1, 30 KOs) face off against WBO Cruiserweight World Champion Chris Billam-Smith (20-1, 13 KOs) in what promises to be an electrifying 12-round contest for the unified title at 200 pounds.

The co-main event features a high-stakes clash between former unified junior welterweight champion Jose Ramirez (29-1, 18 KOs) and undefeated title contender Arnold Barboza Jr. (30-0, 11 KOs). The two will square off in a WBO Super Lightweight World Title Eliminator, with the winner poised to be a leading contender for the championship in 2025.

Perhaps the most intriguing storyline on the undercard involves undefeated lightweight contender William Zepeda (31-0, 27 KOs) as he takes on former champion Tevin Farmer (33-6-1, 8 KOs) in a 10-round lightweight showdown. Zepeda, who was previously mandated by the WBC to face lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson, has been surrounded by controversy after no agreement was reached for the title bout and no purse bid was held by the WBC. The bid was set for August 20. The WBC and its president Mauricio Sulaiman has ignored multiple requests from Brunch Boxing for an update on the status of that situation. Zepeda’s promoter, Oscar De La Hoya has also been silent on the purse bid situation. Despite the silence from the WBC and Golden Boy Promotions on the matter, promoter Oscar De La Hoya has hinted that a win for Zepeda in this bout could finally lead to a much-anticipated clash with Stevenson, telling a fan on social media, “He [Zepeda] wins in November and will fight Shakur next.” De La Hoya has been promising a Zepeda bout against Stevenson for a year now with nothing materializing.

In the fourth fight of the night, the undefeated Oscar Collazo (10-0, 7 KOs) will defend his WBO Strawweight Championship in a 12-round world title contest against challenger Edwin Hernandez (13-2-1, 4 KOs). Collazo has been on a meteoric rise, and this will be his fourth defense of the title, aiming to continue his reign in the strawweight division.

Opening the night will be an intense WBA Super Lightweight Eliminator fight between Oscar Duarte (27-2-1, 22 KOs) and Kenneth Sims Jr. (21-2-1, 8 KOs). Both fighters are vying for a shot at a future world title, making this a pivotal fight to kick off the evening. The WBA title is held by Jose “Rayo” Valenzuela and his current mandatory is Andy Hiraoka.

Fans around the globe will have the opportunity to watch this blockbuster event for free, as the fights will be broadcast worldwide on platforms to be announced.
