Albert Bell to Raymond Ford: Fight Me Next

Super featherweight contender Albert “Prince” Bell is done waiting. After years of being avoided by top names in the 130-pound division, Bell has taken matters into his own hands—issuing a clear and direct challenge to fellow contender Raymond Ford.

“Do you want the next fight to be me and you next? If yes, I’ll see you in the ring. If not, I wish you the best,” Bell posted, publicly pressing Ford to step up after both fighters delivered standout performances on April 12.

The callout is not a clout-chasing tactic. Bell and Ford have something in common beyond their weight class—they’ve both struggled to get top contenders and titleholders to face them. Despite their talent and records, the risk-reward ratio has seemingly kept many opponents at bay.

Bell (27-0, 9 KOs) believes the time has come for the two avoided fighters to solve their mutual problem the old-fashioned way: by fighting each other.

Ford (17-1-1, 8 KOs) initially seemed receptive to the idea, responding on social media with: “We can run it. You’re not exempt from this.” However, he followed that message up with a less committal “stand by,” leaving Bell uncertain about Ford’s willingness to take the bout.

This isn’t the first time Bell has attempted to make the fight happen. According to Brunch Boxing and later confirmed by Bell, he was previously offered a bout with Ford and immediately accepted—but never heard back from Ford’s team. The silence was never explained.

Now, after both men dominated in separate bouts on April 12, the opportunity to make the fight has never looked better. Bell remains hopeful that this time the momentum won’t be lost.

Now all that remains is for Raymond Ford to answer the bell.
