When Devin Haney returns to the ring on November 22 to face WBO Welterweight Champion Brian Norman Jr., he’ll be doing so with his trademark confidence, and a clear message to anyone doubting his chances.
With both fighters entering the bout with something to prove, the stage is set for a high-stakes, high-level clash of the real leaders of boxing’s new school. On one side, you have Norman aiming to defend his title against one of boxing’s brightest names. On the other side, you have Haney seeking to make history and reclaim his name.
In an exclusive interview with Brunch Boxing, the former undisputed lightweight and WBC junior welterweight champion made it clear that he expects to dominate when he steps up once again in a huge championship bout.
“A lot of people are going to be surprised with how I beat this guy,” Haney said.
Norman, an unbeaten champion known for his explosive power and relentless aggression, has drawn praise from fans and pundits alike for his recent, devastating performances against Giovani Santillan, Derrieck Cuevas and Jin Sasaki. But Haney remains unconvinced that Norman can match his skill set.
“All around the board I’m just a better fighter,” Haney declared.
The upcoming bout presents Haney with the chance to capture gold in a third weight division at just 26 years old.
Confident and composed, Haney promised that his performance on November 22 will erase any doubts about his ability to compete at welterweight.
“I will show that I’m levels above him,” Haney concluded.
