Erik Morales Accused of Aggravated Sexual Assault

In a case that has drawn serious attention in both legal and boxing circles, Hall of Fame fighter Erik Morales is facing accusations of aggravated sexual assault stemming from his time in public office.
During a closed-door hearing held Thursday in Mexico, Morales, widely known by his ring name El Terrible, was accused by a former municipal employee. The private nature of the proceedings was reportedly requested by the woman’s attorney in an effort to protect her identity and personal privacy as the case unfolds.
According to the complaint, the alleged incident took place in 2025 while Morales was serving as Secretary of Welfare for the city of Tijuana. The accusation was formally filed with the State Attorney General’s Office in July. Following the filing, Morales was removed from his government position.
After the hearing concluded, Morales did not speak to members of the media.
Now 49 years old, Morales built a legendary career inside the ring that spanned nearly two decades from 1993 through 2012. He made history as the first Mexico-born boxer to capture world titles in four different weight classes, ranging from super bantamweight to junior welterweight.
Morales has firmly denied all allegations brought against him.
