Sources tell Brunch Boxing that a massive super middleweight showdown between Lester Martinez and Christian Mbilli is being finalized for the blockbuster Netflix card headlined by Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford on September 13 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mbilli (29-0, 24 KOs), the undefeated interim WBC Super Middleweight Champion, has become one of the most feared punchers in the division. He’s coming off a statement-making performance in June, when he demolished veteran contender Maciej Sulecki in just one round.

Martinez (19-0, 16 KOs), the hard-hitting Guatemalan star, was scheduled to headline a ProBox TV event on July 12 against Pierre Hubert Dibombe, but was forced to withdraw. At the time, the withdrawal was attributed to migraine headaches, raising concerns about his health. However, ProBox CEO Garry Jonas later clarified that Martinez had been dealing with a pinched Arnold nerve, which caused the intense pain and ultimately kept him out of the ring.

Now fully recovered, Martinez is set to make the biggest leap of his career against Mbilli on the same stage as the highly anticipated Canelo-Crawford megafight. The bout would pit two undefeated knockout artists against each other, adding another layer of intrigue to what is already being billed as one of the most historic fight nights in recent memory.
