Trini Ochoa to Turki Alalshikh: Put Me On Canelo vs. Crawford Card!

06/26/2025

Junior welterweight prospect Trini Ochoa has thrown his hat into the ring—literally and figuratively—for a coveted spot on the undercard of one of the most anticipated boxing matches in recent memory: Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford, set for September 13 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, airing live on Netflix.

With global boxing powerbroker Turki Alalshikh leading the charge in promoting the historic super-fight, the undercard for Canelo vs. Crawford is taking a fresh approach. Rather than stacking it with aging veterans or B-side names, Alalshikh has made it clear: this night is about the future.

I’m looking for young, hungry fighters to showcase. We have 3 undercard slots for 6 boxers. If you are future legend, tell me why you deserve the spotlight of this historic event, include a training video and tag Ring Magazine,” Alalshikh announced via social media.

One of the first to answer that call was the undefeated Trini Ochoa (21-0, 9 KOs), who addressed Alalshikh directly with his own impassioned pitch:

Turki Alalshikh, I’d be honored to have the opportunity to fight on the undercard of this spectacular fight!

Ochoa isn’t just a fighter looking for a chance—he’s a rising star who’s already claimed the WBC USNBC Junior Welterweight Title and built a reputation as one of the sport’s most promising young talents. A regular in elite gyms, Ochoa has sharpened his skills alongside boxing luminaries like Vasyl Lomachenko and David Benavidez, and his performances inside the ring reflect that pedigree.

Hailing from Arizona, Ochoa is also a proven ticket seller, bringing in big crowds whenever he fights on home turf. But now, he’s aiming even higher—seeking to make his mark on a global stage, one that will be watched by millions across the world.

As Turki Alalshikh continues evaluating potential candidates for the three undercard bouts, the ball is now in his court. With Ochoa’s perfect record, growing fanbase, and championship momentum, the Arizona prospect may be exactly the kind of fighter Alalshikh is looking to showcase. It’s not just about a fight—it’s about visibility, legacy, and a chance to prove he belongs among boxing’s elite.

This could change my life,” Ochoa said when reflecting on the opportunity to fight on a card headlined by two of the sport’s pound-for-pound kings.
