Interim WBA Bantamweight Champion Nonito Donaire is preparing for yet another chapter in his storied career, with sources telling Brunch Boxing that the Filipino legend is slated to return to the ring in December.
According to those familiar with the discussions, the shortlist of potential opponents includes former world champion Daigo Higa, Australia’s two-time title challenger Jason Moloney, and Puerto Rican standout Emmanuel Rodriguez.

The December bout would mark Donaire’s second fight of 2025 and the first defense of the interim title he captured in June against Andres Campos. Donaire, a four-division world champion and one of boxing’s most accomplished veterans, showed that his trademark timing, power, and ring IQ remain firmly intact.
The future Hall of Famer made that triumphant return to the sport after a two-year layoff, announcing that his goal was nothing less than reclaiming his place at the top of the bantamweight division.
