Gervonta Davis vs Lamont Roach
Round 1
Very tentative round where almost no shots are landed and very little are even thrown. Roach sticking to straight shots only which lowers the possibility of Tank countering. Tank sitting back and waiting is nothing unusual from a Tank fight
1-0 Roach
Round 2
Still very tentative with Roach pressing forward. Tank moved back in this round but he also took the lead to get shots off. Nothing has openned up yet and it’s obvious Roach’s gameplan was to make Tank have to create his own offense instead of waiting for a big mistake from his opponent.
1-1
Round 3
The fights opens up a bit. Tank starts to look to go to the body and lead left hands. Roach jabs and counters well in the 2nd half and lands the morn meaningful work.
2-1 Roach
Round 4
Tank has a similar strategy to start most fights which is to move in circles around the ring and make his opponent chase so hopefully he can walk someone into something big. Roach is showing great discipline but not getting eager and over stepping into shots. The straight left won the round for Davis but Lamont did have a moment at the end when Davis was complaining to ref.

Round 5
Roach is doing great to keep a distance and keep the jab in Tank’s face to start the round. Tank gets back to the body because he is struggling to catch Roach to the head. A should bump is used by Tank showing some frustration in the match.
3-2 Tank
Round 6
Best round for Gervonta in the fight by far. He landed his cleanest offense and Roach looked a step slower than him. Still no shot look to hurt roach.
4-2 Tank
Round 7
The fight looked like it was going to go south for Roach but he has his best round so far in the fight in the 8th. He steps to Tank early and places his shots very well. Roach throws the jab right combo as he walks in and then switches to just stepping in working the body around Davis’s gaurd. Roach rocks Davis with a right hand forcing Gervonta to back up.
4-3 Tank
Round 8
In a competitive round Roach’s power makes the difference rocking Tank with a counter. Roach is the more effective counter puncher in that round and is very selective with his punches and where he is punching from.
4-4
Round 9
Tank takes a knee after a combo by Roach and he runs to the corner where his corner whiped his eyes. Steve Willis the ref began counting then stopped when he was convinced by Tank that he wasn’t hurt by a punch. Tank came out aggressively after the knee and landed some of his best work to win the round.
5-4 Tank
Round 10
Lamont Roach out works and out lands Gervonta this round. Roach is walking Tank down a bit and putting more on his shots. Tank still mostly waiting for an opening for a counter.
5-5
Round 11
Davis was aggressive and looking to come forward. This is the strategy Tank needed throughout this fight. Roach landed some big shots but Tank was more consistent in the round. This was the hardest round to score in the fight. definite swing round.
6-5 Tank
Round 12
Roach is the one who owns the 12th. He is the more agreesive and confident fighter that round. Roach even feels the faster of the two that round. Tank never goes for it and even looks to move away in the last 10 seconds.
6-6 Draw
This was a very competitive and tactical fight that ended in a draw but the controversy of the 9th round is what people will remember. If that was called a knockdown Roach wins in a massive upset. The fight needs a rematch and I think the rematch will be just as competitive. Lamont’s skills and durability will always make this a tough fight for Gervonta Davis.
