This Saturday, July 19, at the iconic MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Tim Tszyu steps back into the ring for a fight that’s bigger than titles—it’s personal redemption. Live on PBC PPV on Prime, Tszyu takes on Sebastian Fundora in a rematch for the WBC Junior Middleweight Championship. It’s the second leg on what Tszyu is calling his redemption tour—and a full-circle moment that finally brings him face-to-face with the man who started his downward spiral in 2024.
Their first clash in March of that year was a war of attrition—a bloody, bruising 12-round battle that saw Fundora narrowly emerge victorious on the judges’ scorecards. That night marked the beginning of a brutal stretch for Tszyu, who later lost to Bakhram Murtazaliev, capping off a year of professional and personal frustration.

Now, with renewed focus and clarity, Tszyu is back to settle scores—and he’s doing it with purpose.
“I get to rewrite my story,” Tszyu told Brunch Boxing in an exclusive sit-down.
He’s candid about the emotional toll of 2024, and the fast-paced rebound that left little time for healing or reflection.
“I never really had time to reflect. I just went straight back in because I wanted to prove my wrongs. Sometimes you do need a little bit of a reset to be able to zero in on what’s next after.”

That reset, according to Tszyu, has allowed him to recalibrate—mentally and strategically. Though he fought with heart, he admits there were missteps in his previous fights, both in the corner and in the execution.
“I was able to show the world what I’m truly made of. That’s what I’m about, just bringing that warrior spirit at all times. Strategically, we could have done better. A lot of people made mistakes. We just move on.”
And now, he’s zeroed in on righting the first of those wrongs: Sebastian Fundora.

“The fact that we went to war for 12 rounds, and it was a bloody, bloody mess. It’s going to be one hell of a banger. He won on the scorecards [last time]. It was a close fight, but there was a lot of unanswered questions for me. That’s why I wanted it back, and that’s why we’re back here fighting against Fundora.”
For Tszyu, this isn’t just another title shot—it’s a declaration of resurgence.
“This is the fight to prove that I’m back at the very top, really. Beating Sebastian Fundora, who’s the main man right now in the junior middleweight division, brings you that prestige of being at the very top, back at the very top.”
As for the game plan this time?
“Just turn out each round and get each round done in a proper fashion. Fundora is obviously a hard guy to fight. He’s so tall and he’s got this reach and he’s got this awkwardness. But you got to take some to give some.”

It’s clear Tszyu respects the challenge Fundora presents—but he’s not intimidated. If anything, the adversity has only sharpened his resolve.
Saturday night is Tim Tszyu’s moment of reckoning. It’s his chance to reclaim his narrative, redeem his name, and remind the world what he’s made of.
“Wouldn’t it be lovely to rewrite history and come back with a Fundora victory, and then a Murtazaliev victory? That would make the story even greater.”
And if Tim Tszyu has his way, this will be the night he rewrites history—one bloody round at a time.
