This Friday, May 9, Puerto Rican boxing celebrates the arrival of a new rising star as Yandiel “Chino” Lozano makes his professional debut at the legendary Sony Hall in Times Square. The event is promoted by Boxing Insider Promotions and will be broadcast live on DAZN.
The card will be headlined by a bout between Andy Domínguez and Nelvis Rodríguez, but it will also mark the beginning of Lozano’s professional journey as he steps into the ring against American fighter Erick Howard (6-3, 0 KOs). Howard brings valuable experience, having previously faced top prospects such as Robert Meriwether III and Kaipo Gallegos, to whom he dropped two of his three losses.

At just 18 years old, Lozano enters the pro ranks with an impressive amateur résumé: 119 wins, only 9 losses, multiple national and international titles, and a silver medal at the 2024 IBA Youth World Championships. Born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, he began boxing at the age of seven under the guidance of coaches Juan ‘Memo’ López and José García, both instrumental figures in his development.
Now signed with Queensberry Promotions and managed by the well-known Shelly Finkel, the young Boricua is ready to showcase his talent on the professional stage. His orthodox style, paired with discipline, focus, and maturity, makes him one of the most promising prospects in the Caribbean.
