  • WBO and IBF Middleweight Champion Janibek Alimkhanuly and mandatory challenger Hamzah Sheeraz failed to reach an agreement by the purse bid deadline set by the WBO. Sources tell Brunch Boxing that Sheeraz’s team has asked for an extension of the deadline.



  • Undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue held a press conference Thursday to officially announce his December 24 title defense against IBF mandatory Sam Goodman. Yoshiki Takei will also appear on the card against an opponent to be announced.



  • The super middleweight bout between undefeated prospects Lester Martinez and Joeshon James has been postponed indefinitely. Sources tell Brunch Boxing that Martinez has been dealing with an undisclosed illness.



  • Welterweight contender Rashidi “Speedy” Ellis (25-1, 16 KOs) made his long-awaited return to the ring on Friday, October 25. Headlining Classic Entertainment and Sports (CES) Boxing’s “Halloween Knock Out” event at the Oceanside Events Center in Revere, Massachusetts, Ellis will square off against Brian Damian Chaves (14-6, 5 KOs). Ellis secured a stoppage victory in the second round after his opponent did not come out for the third.



  • The DAZN PPV undercard, headlined by the first-round knockout victory by Fabio Wardley over Frazer Clarke I’m a rematch of their March 31 bout has reportedly done less than 1,000 US PPV buys.




  • The ongoing dispute between the WBA and BoxRec is escalating and the Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC) has decided to play referee. The two essential entities, the World Boxing Association (WBA) and BoxRec, a leading record-keeping website for boxing, have been embroiled in a months-long dispute. This escalating conflict prompted the Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC) to step in as a mediator.



  • Saudi Arabia has long held a fascination with the global sports and entertainment scene, spending billions on ambitious initiatives across multiple sports. From English football clubs to major golf tournaments, the kingdom has strategically funded ventures with the intent of positioning itself as a sports powerhouse. But Saudi Arabia’s ventures into boxing, which have shown similar ambitions, are now facing increased scrutiny and potential scale-backs as the kingdom realigns its spending priorities.



  • Frank Warren, the legendary promoter behind Queensberry, recently announced that the company has extended promotional agreements with a substantial core of its most promising and accomplished fighters, committing them to multi-year, multi-fight deals. Those names include Hamzah Sheeraz, Nick Ball and Moses Itauma.



  • The IBF has set a November 5 purse bid date for the heavyweight showdown between Martin Bakole (21-1, 16 KOs) and Agit Kabayel (25-0, 17 KOs). The bout will determine the mandatory challenger for IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois. Dubois is allowed to make a voluntary title defense while awaiting the outcome of this eliminator.



  • The picturesque Monte Carlo is set to host a night of boxing as Uzbekistan’s former IBF and WBA Super Bantamweight Champion, Murodjon “MJ” Akhmadaliev (12-1, 9 KOs), makes his return to the ring. He will face Mexican fighter Ricardo Espinoza Franco (30-4, 25 KOs) in a battle for the WBA Interim Super Bantamweight Championship.
